Stephen D. Hess, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified Dermatologist with extensive experience in all aspects of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Hess completed his dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the top-ranked dermatology training programs in the country. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Hess also completed a one year fellowship in cutaneous oncology which allowed him to develop additional expertise in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. He received comprehensive training in pediatric dermatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Hess has been practicing in the Philadelphia / South Jersey region since 2008.

A native of Buffalo NY, Dr. Hess graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine where he earned both his medical degree (M.D.) and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Immunology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He completed his undergraduate education at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.

Dr. Adam S. Plotkin, a partner of Near Me Dermatology and a partner of Palm Beach Dermatology Group, is a board certified dermatologist. A native of Poughkeepsie, NY, he earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Plotkin completed post-graduate training in internal medicine at Brown University Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and dermatology training at Wright State University in Dayton, OH.

Dr. Plotkin is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is a member of and past president of the Palm Beach County Society for Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. His research is published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he is a featured expert speaker on radio and television. He belongs to several honors societies and medical organizations.

Youn Jea Kim is one of the few Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioners with the unique distinction of training alongside dermatology residents in a university setting. With extensive expertise in a wide range of dermatological conditions, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a patient-centered approach to Near Me Dermatology.

Kim earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and later graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. During her time at the dermatology clinic affiliated with the University of Buffalo, she worked closely with medical dermatology residents, gaining hands-on experience in both common and complex skin conditions. Her comprehensive medical education spans nursing, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy, allowing her to provide a holistic approach to dermatological care.

Cynthia Chan is a Registered Nurse with diverse experience in both Critical Care and Dermatology. She is currently pursuing her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and began her career as a medical assistant in dermatology. Her passion for patient care led her to switch career paths, earning a degree in Nursing from Niagara University after obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Buffalo.

With her extensive clinical background and experience working closely with healthcare providers as a medical assistant and medical scribe, Cynthia brings a well-rounded perspective to patient care.

Outside of work, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her puppy, practicing hot yoga, and exploring new travel destinations.

Kyra is one of the nurses at Near Me Dermatology. Kyra’s journey in healthcare began with a her bachelors degree in biochemistry with a minor in pharmacology and toxicology, where she focused on drug addiction research at the University at Buffalo (UB). Her work centered on studying the effects of cocaine and heroin addiction, specifically aiming to mitigate cue-induced relapse responses in animal models.

After graduating, Kyra took on a role as a medical assistant, where she discovered her passion for providing essential dermatology care, particularly to underserved communities. Her commitment to addressing healthcare disparities motivated her to return to UB for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), where she played a key role in helping Nurse Practitioner Kim launch Near Me Dermatology, a practice dedicated to offering accessible dermatology services to patients in need.

Currently, Kyra is furthering her education in UB’s Doctor of Nursing Practice/Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP/FNP) program with the goal of becoming a dermatology nurse practitioner. She is committed to combining her research background and clinical skills to provide comprehensive, patient-centered dermatology care in the future.

Lucy is a Registered Nurse at Near Me Dermatology. A native of Buffalo, New York, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from D'Youville University, where she developed a deep interest in skin health and wellness. She began her career as a Medical Assistant in dermatology and quickly found her calling, appreciating the profound impact skin health has on patients' overall well-being and self-confidence.

After becoming a Registered Nurse, Lucy continued her journey at Near Me Dermatology, where she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate approach. She is deeply committed to educating patients, assisting with treatments and procedures, and providing the highest quality care.

Tiffinie is one of the nurses at Near Me Dermatology. She began her career with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University at Buffalo (UB). While working at Near Me Dermatology, she developed a passion for patient care, which inspired a career change into nursing. This led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at SUNY Downstate. Tiffinie is multilingual in English and Burmese.

During her time at Near Me Dermatology, Tiffinie played a key role in assisting Nurse Practitioner in launching the clinic, gaining valuable hands-on experience in dermatological care and patient management. Tiffinie is committed to continuous learning and plans to further her education to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, with the goal of providing a broader scope of care to patients in the future.

When Tiffinie has time off of work, she enjoys hands-on activities such as painting, crocheting, and doing puzzles!

Chen Zhang is a dedicated Practice Manager at Near Me Dermatology. He excels in streamlining operations, enhancing patient experience, and optimizing team performance to provide quality dermatological care. 

Chen holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a Master of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo. As part of his master’s program, Chen was a laboratory research assistant with the Department of Physiology and coauthored a paper in the Frontier’s in Physiology journal.

Chen began his career as a medical assistant at Near Me Dermatology, where he quickly developed a passion for the complexity of skin diseases and their connection to other body systems. Committed to both personal and professional growth, Chen works on innovative patient engagement strategies and aims to foster a culture of excellence within the practice. He aspires to attend medical school to become a dermatologist and provide essential care to underserved communities.

Outside of work, Chen is an avid Bills fan. He enjoys hiking, spending time with family and friends, and gaming.  Chen believes in making a positive impact not only in dermatology but also his community. 

Neel Cheruvu is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) with a minor in Entrepreneurship. His academic background, combined with hands-on research experience in a cognitive and neuropsychology lab, sparked a keen interest in innovation and problem-solving within healthcare.

Currently, Neel serves as both an office manager and medical assistant at NMD, where he ensures the smooth operation of the practice and provides critical support to healthcare professionals and patients alike. His role has strengthened his passion for patient care and the medical field. Driven by a commitment to further his impact in healthcare, Neel is preparing to apply to medical school, with the goal of pursuing a career in medicine.

A Fredonia native, Jessica Winchell brings over a decade of experience in management, patient care, and customer service to Near Me Dermatology.
